Why do we so carefully choose our Tea Tree Oil?
What is Melaleuca Oil (Tea Tree Oil)?
Melaleuca Oil (TTO) is the essential oil steam-distilled from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, an Australian native plant. Tea Tree Oil has been well documented as an antiseptic and disinfectant agent as early as the 1920’s and 30’s. More recent work has focused on the oil’s anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic properties.
Rye Pharmaceuticals has sourced the oil for Rapaid from a single plantation for over 20 years. Why?
Oils aren't Oils
Not all Tea Tree Oils are of a similar standard. We believe the Australian and European Pharmacopoeia Standards for Melaleuca Oil are too broad, and can lead to poor quality oil – that may be contaminated with other species, and could
possibly be oxidised or contain higher levels of irritants.
Rye Pharmaceuticals‘ Tea Tree Oil is sourced from a
single ISO certified plantation. Furthermore it complies with our own internal specification – which is much more rigorous than the Australian or European standards. Our internal standard calls for a minimum of 26% more of one of the key active components, and up to five times less of one of the components considered to be an irritant.

What does this mean for Rapaid?
By carefully selecting premium pharmaceutical grade oil to the most exacting internal standards, we minimise irritation and maximise the performance of Rapaid. It means a more effective relief from skin irritations, and helps inflammation control and protects against infection.
